A gold prospector has found a gold nugget worth $4,000 buried two feet underground.
The prospector, known as Bill M, found the 50g nugget on a private property in the Ballarat area, south-west Victoria, last week. The exact location remains a secret.
At a specific gravity of 19.3 it's not exactly that big!
Evening WAWT, SG (specific gravity) has nothing to do with the weight SG is an indicator of purity, all pure gold has an SG of 19.32.
"24K gold. 24k gold is also called pure gold or 100 per cent gold. This means that all 24 parts in the gold are all pure gold without traces of any other metals. It is known to be 99.9 per cent pure and takes on a distinct bright yellow color."
The nugget the person found near Ballarat was just over 50 grams, and a very nice find it was.
