Personal safety and security

We are newbies in our 60s and plan some off road/isolated trips and wondered how people deal with safety and security issues please. Do you have motion detectors or nighttime alarms, pepper sprays or even tasers for self defense?

Just wondering if this product does any permanent damage if used on someone? (looking at safety precautions for myself atm)

I think the OP thinks he is in the USA. Tasers, pepper spray! You forgot the AK45 and sawn off s-h-o-t-gun (what clown thinks s h o t is an obscenity that needs replacing with **)

We carry a garmin inreach which covers all possible emergency and contact requirements

BTW use wask spray or similar on anyone and you will end up in big trouble.

As for bear spray - previous owners of the camper brought it down with them from the USA. One night in the Pantanal in Brazil, a drug crazy was running amok despite the best efforts of three brawny locals to control him. He broke away and started busting his way into our camper so I gave him several bursts from the bear spray, and while he did turn away, it didn't slow him down in the slightest. I'd suggest wasp spray is even less effective
