Dometic Carad Caravan Door

We have 2013 Jayco Sterling with Dometic Carad Caravan door.

We are currently locked out due to the barrel mechanism free wheeling and the door is in the locked position.

Has anyone had similar experiences and can provide information or details in achieving an outcome.

We are currently house sitting at Barmedman NSW  and will try and find a locksmith tomorrow (Sunday Afternoon).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ditto same problem, have a new tumbler assy and new keys waiting for us at the Jayco dealer. If you are locked out, do you have a small window within arms reach of the internal door lock? You may want to pm the reply.

Yes, we are locked out and currently parked up in the small village of Barmedman.

We need to get access or assistance from a locksmith hopefully in Temora or West Wyalong.

Cannot hook up and tow away as the slide out is fully extended.

Persistence has paid off.smile

This morning I have managed to get the key into the barrel on angle etc to engage the mechanism to release the lock.

Door is now open.

Will  have to source replacement lock etc and have it fitted.

Just started a 5 week house sit in a Rural remote area so may need to hold out until the sit is over.

Thanks again

John have you tried Wagga Caravan Centre in Wagga 69228307 or Riverina Caravan Repairs 0414742886 in Wagga also, they may be able to help

Thanks Southern Cruiser.

I will check them out.

I have contacted Jayco at Dubbo and they have the parts on hand.

Just a matter of getting there.

Cheers

Just done our door, not a big job with the right tools. Can now lock the van again.

No the van is parked behind the back gate of the Home Owner's property and in the village of Barmedman I don't think anyone will cause us any great concern or try the door.

Sleepy little place between West Wyalong & Temora.

We had problems with Dometic (Hourglass Style) door resulting in the door being replaced Four (4) times plus lock being re-barrelled (in Darwin) by Dometic agent. Not at all happy with the product.
