Coffs Harbour NSW to Armidale NSW.

We're on the North Coast NSW south of Coffs Harbour and headed for Armidale.

Does anyone have ideas on the best road.

What's the road through Dorrigo like towing a 'van?

Or is there a preferred road?

Thanks.

Keith.

I consider that the only way to go is via Dorrigo. This is the route. The main street of Bellingen can be slow when there are a lot of locals in town but you just take your time. Then next is the long hill. Most of it is not steep, it is just the curves that will slow you down. There are a couple of narrow sections where you have to give way to descending traffic, but the road where you wait for that traffic is not very steep so restarting should be no problem for those with well balanced rigs. Trucks and semi-trailers use the road so you should be able to fit through OK. The only problem with them is you may have to follow them up some climbs. When that happens just cool your heels and follow.

There are plenty of rest areas along the way. Ebor falls is worth a stop for a meal or morning tea break. You can see the falls with not much walking.

Enjoy your trip.

I agree with PeterD.

Enjoy the scenery and the drive, take in the waterfalls.

Thanks Peter D and Radar we've driven as far as Dorrigo from Armidale without the 'van so sort of know that end is OK.

We're in no hurry so I can follow your advice easily it's what I hoped to hear.

Again thanks.

Keith.

Half way up the mountain, virtually in the middle of the drive, is a waterfall, that goes under the road, and a parking area with water on your right. Good place to stop for a feed and the views.

Thanks very much for your help it was most appreciated.

We had been up there previously without the 'van but couldn't recall the terrain, looking at a map it certainly showed very twisty roads so that was the reason for my query.

Thanks.

Keith.
