Hi I purchased a OBD2 Bluetooth Dongle to read the transmission temperature. 2016 Ford Territory petrol. I purchased a couple of apps Forscan which connects but doesn't recognise the vehicle And Torque which works well but won't read Transmission temperatures. Apparently I might need a custom PID. Anyone had success with this please. I have contacted both apps support without much help so far. Cheers Stewart
I have a Wish cheapie ok purchased just to play. It cost more to ship than purchase and all up about $1.50. It reads everything my Hilux outputs but can't reset most codes. The app you run in conjunction has a lot to do with what tasks you can perform. HOWEVER, as Mike has said, not all vehicles have a transmission temp sensor. In fact, some vehicles read case temp not internal temp and I believe some just read fluid temp in pipes not internal to transmission itself. Third party internal sensors can be fitted to most vehicles and boy racers often retrofit sensors attached to easily read gauges. If you're going to read trans temps, it needs to be real-time.
A few years ago I bought a cheap blue tooth OBD 2 plug in and the Torque app all for about $12 for my NS Pajero. Was a great investment, allowed me to reset faults and trouble shoot problems. The Transmission temp was way out but I located a patch on a Pajero Owners Forum. Temps read what I was told to expect.
Try a Ford Territory owners forum you might find a fix.
