Wondering if anyone has purchased one of these gennies above and what they can do. Suppliers here in Adelaide do not carry this model(order only) in stock so can't just rockup with van and try it. Or even the westinghouse 2400kva which is similar but won't fit in his gennie box of RV like the 2500 will(go figger)
He has a 5yrs old JB caravan with Ibis Air Command aircon, bought second hand, trying to work out if the above will run aircon or not. We cannot(but don't think it has) work out if it has the soft start and cannot get any info from the manufacturer(unbelievable).
We have tried a redback 2.1kva generator but it failed to start the airconditioner.
Hopefully someone with this particular model gennie can help, looking to someone with experience!
regards
Ian

Yes I tend to agree but as I said they do not hold stock of this model they have to order it in. Hoping someone might have the same model here or even the 2400 which won't fit in mates gennie locker. One would think if 2400 runs it their 2500 should walk it in!
If I get no response here he may have to try their 2400 model, which they do carry in stock!
thanks
Ian

Hi Wanda
My JB is a 2017 and has the ibis 3 and my Honda 2.2 will run the air con and charger and other low watt devices although it does rev high and rather noisy I would get the Yamaha if I knew that beforehand If the JB is less than five years it would more than likely be the ibis 3.
Is there any reason why you going with that brand when you can get Yamaha 2.4 for around the price of the Westinghouse and they are proven to run all RV air conditioners .The only way you will know is if you can do a test run as I know my Honda 2.2 will not run some of the older air conditioners and when I bought the Honda the salesman from TGW said it would run any air con and of coarse I believed him oh well another lesson learned not to rely on information from people who dont know what there product can do and be wary of cheap copys I would hate to see you do your doe
cheers

Thanks Travelyounger for your positive input.
We believe he has the "Ibis 2", probably the last before the Ibis 3 was released. I think the 3 has the soft start where as the 2 probably not(well not all of them).
Yes, he was around last night and it looks like there are some good prices for the Honda 2.2 at the moment, one of the problems is making sure it fits his gennie locker on the van.
I think he is heading down the Honda 2.2 way now with good prices and the ability to be able to try before buying.
thanks all the same
Ian
