Tow Vehicle Overheating possibility

Hi all, Today I was having a general chat with my son in-law and he just happened to mention that his sister, who works in spare parts sales at Repco, has recently had a few mechanics come in for parts to refurbish the engine water pump and the old ones they have brought in to get the parts for have had incorrect impellers and some of them have even been the wrong pump for the vehicle even though the bolt patterns were the same the housing was slightly different for that model of the engine, so this would allow more water to bypass the impeller and cause overheating and would only show up on really hot days, driving up hills or when towing. Might be something worth extra scrutinising if you are have overheating problems and if you are changing water pumps it would be best to buy the complete new pump rather that reconditioning the old one. Hope this helps someone. Cheers

Chief Doug was having an unusual overheating problem with his Vehicle, I wonder if his pump was replaced. Cheers Stewart

Yes it was Stewart, according to the invoice anyway. Timing Belt, Water Pump and new Radiator all at same time.

The problem is still there.

The Collie is booked into a reputable work shop next Monday 8/2. Just have to organise a lift back to the teepee, too far to walk the 15km. I will give them a copy of all work done and a list of possibilities I have had mentioned to me by various people here and in the real world. I will make sure they understand it is inly what people have said and not telling them how to do their job.

The only good thing about a new vehicle today, is it is good for 100,000 then you should take it to a wrecker and crush it. Once you start having problems with them, they become a money pit. I know my Pathy was, should have crushed it. And bought a new moke, and would if I could. They were bombs to start with, but you knew that upfront. Not so, with modern cars.
