what size inverter

What size inverter would you suggest to power a single appliance which is  240v 320watts at 6amps.

Inverter will  be connected to a 60ah AGM battery which is charged by a 70amp alternator, the inverter will only in use while the motor is running.

What is the appliance? 240v x 6 amps is 1440 watts.

OK mate, that is probably what it draws, don't know where the 6 amps came from. A 500 watt inverter should be fine.

Probably the 6amps is the maximum load under stress including startup of compressor & cooling fan running at maximum on a high ambient temperature day.

Portable concentrators come with a 12v adapter which can be plugged directly into a 12v socket, so no need for an inverter.

I have no numbers after my name but I have some wonderful clever friend though my retirement hobby who share their years of experiences.

We needed to run our washing machine on spin cycle though an inverter when we are off grid camping and 2 of them agreed that a Repco 600 was ideal but for a $20 more on special, we could buy a 1000 watt pure swine with 2 fans and the build specs were excellent, the aircraft electronics Nut said big is best not to big.

It has been used several times now while camping over the last 3 years, topping up the laptop batteries, gave it workout using a grinder for about an hour, ran the 3 way 185 litre frig for 4 hours when we had a temporary problem with the 12 volt side of things on a extremely hot day out in the barren no shade, Central Queensland.

Next to our diesel heater the best mod we have done to our caravan is fit that useful inverter.

I would be investigating the 12 V adaptor. The PSU (power supply unit) producing the 12 V wastes some power. An inverter also wastes some power. That means you are wasting power twice. By using the adaptor you are only wasting one lot of power.

I had a look at the first concentrator on BOC website. At 6 amps you maybe use US 120 volts figure. 230v is 3amps.

Using more than 2.0L/minute double check with your doctor.
