HR Battery Monitor and Lithium Battery

Hi

Has anyone had any experience with the Hayman Reese Smart Check Battery Monitor and lithium batteries?
I contacted Hayman Reese and was told that it should work but may not be as accurate as it should be.
It appears that the monitor was developed before lithium batteries became so popular.

Any comments appreciated.

Hi Dessmile

I do not know anything about this unit except what I found below.

But reading that I would suspect it would not be very suitable for lithium batteries if you want to know what state of charge they are. Lithium has a completely different voltage Vs state of charge, to lead acid batteries. I would not waste my money there !!

Product Details

The Hayman Reese SmartCheck Battery Monitor enables the remote monitoring of the charge of up to four batteries located in either the vehicle and/or trailer. While the primary purpose of the system is to monitor the battery status of the trailer's Break Away unit, other batteries can be added by connecting additional Battery Monitor Unit's to each battery. As each Battery Monitor Unit connects to the Display Unit using proprietary wireless technology, installation is straight forward regardless of where the batteries are located.
Pack Includes:

  • 1 x Display Unit
  • 1 x Battery Monitor Unit
  • 1 x Wiring Loom
  • 1 x 12V Cigarette Plug Charging Adaptor
  • 1 x Dashboard Mount
  • 1 x USB Extension Cable

Thanks, Jaahn.

I already have the HR installed but, after a rethink, I may just stick with the lead acid battery.
Wife is not keen on free camping anymore so probably no point in spending the extra money.
No need to change regulator and charger.

Cheers
