Split system in coaster bus

Hi everybody,

has anybody here have any stories pics or experiences with fitting a domestic 240v split system aircon to a 1995 coaster bus?any info on things like best place to mount the compressor unit and if one brand stands out as preferred make or model and a rough idea on what it would cost?

Not much help from me Coaster 95, but I did see a very nicely fitup of a window air con fitted to the back window space ,a couple years back , in a Toyota Coaster , the guy was very happy with it.

And it looked a very well done job . I asked him if it was really noisy ,he replied ," I did have a caravan , before this and that was just as noisy if not worse".

I believe the latest window air cons are a lot quieter than the old rumblers with the rotary compressors .

Just an idea!!

Regards Orid

Can't really help but Fuji seems to get some decent reports for caravans. A reverse cycle unit is about $1k from the Good Guys.

Whilst my 2.5kw Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is mounted on my van's towbar, with the cassette on the loungeroom wall, with a bus such as yours,I suggest that the compressor be mounted on the rear bumper...its only 30kg...with the cassette at the rear, blowing air down the length of the bus. Mine was purchased from Good Guys for $700.Since you give no indication of where you live (or even your name!) I am unable to offer help with installation,or perhaps you plan to install it yourself? Good luck! Cheers
