Does anyone else like to watch sport etc when they are travelling.Would like to try Kayo as our van is not big enough to put automatic satellite dish on and connect foxtel so i know Kayo will provide me most of the things i want to watch.Can anyone tell me if they have Kayo and what sort of tv system you have set up to be able to watch.
Yes, I have kayo and streaming it to my laptop via the mobile phone hotspot, works well. Telstra are offering the first 12 months at 15.00 pm if you are an existing customer.
I can't do without my motogp and V8 supercars.
Kayo appears to be a streaming service, so will need a smart tv, or Apple TV, and some form of internet connection, which is fine where you have mobile service, but no good if remote. Would also require a big data package for regular watching.
Have you considered a portable satellite setup, rather than a fixed roof unit. Once you have learned it, 10 minute setup, and reception anywhere.

Hi Ian...if you intend to travel full-time,just bite the bullet and get a Satking Promax.Takes up little room on the roof,and automatically finds stations in a minute or so...I've got 114 channels on mine.Simply park the car,press the button,and head to the fridge.By the time you've got your cool drink you'll have TV programmes.No messing around packing and unpacking Sat dish,no messing around trying to find a signal,no concern that someone can "borrow" your dish,and if you forget it before to lower it before you move off,once you reach a speed of 5km/hr,it will lower itself. I bought mine in the Logan city area.Cheers
Hi Yobarr,our van is only 16 x 7 and has little room on top with our 3 solar panels so can you tell me how big the satking dish is please and rough idea on dollars.We were going to put an outback tv dish on our van but not enough room.So trying to get some extra channels if possible with what we have.Thanks Ian

Hi Ian...my van is not huge,but I have 9 Solar panels,4 seasons hatch,roof vent for ensuite and Satking.Still there is spare room.(Not much, admittedly) Anyway,dimensions are 520mm x 600mm x 274mm high. Cheers
A portable satellite VAST setup can be had for around $700 new, and are often available second hand from $350. Look in caravan forum for sale sections, or Gumtree, Marketplace on Facebook, or eBay.
We got a second hand one, and find it no issue to setup when we get on site. Does have one advantage over a roof top fixed unit, I can set van in shade, and place dish in sun with line of site to satellite. Roof top unit must be in open, so no parking under trees.
Significantly cheaper as well. No data requirements to use as it isnt streaming, and if you do take your Foxtel, you have access to all your package. We do not have Foxtel ourselves.

Hi all; I have had satellite television for a number of years now and i also travel with a offset 80cm dish. When we are on the move the tripod folds up and lives in the front boot, While the dish and lnb live on our bed inside of the caravan. I lay the dish on it's back and it also has the LNb and the arm attached with. The wife just places a old towel on the bed to protect the doona cover. The dish never moves on the bed and once you get used to bringing the dish inside the caravan through the door. We have traveled for around 9 years this way and as i have said before , never a problem with the dish moving on the bed.
If you do look at a second hand satellite setup, make sure it comes with the decoder box, 12 volt preferably (Satking are 12 volt). I have seen too many advertised excluding the box which will cost about $300. Also make sure the box has its control card in it. You cant put a different card in them as they are paired at the factory.

Your original question was about watching sports and some info provided on Satellite TV has been good but....VastTV will only give you sports from the Free To Air services. If you go down the satellite path you may want to go for a dual LNB and then subscribe to the Fox Sports service. Personally it will be cheaper just to go the Kayo provider and use your ordinary TV for local services.
