Welcome to GN's Terry, I know nothing about Royal Flair, but I would assume they are like every other generic caravan that has a Model Type with no two built to the same specifications.

If you download some general information/ checklists at www.caravancouncil.com.au/ (FREE), you will get something to start with.

Have fun with your new toy.

Single or double beds?

We had a 1999 Viscount Nipper with a 4' double bed across the front. It went well until the cook decided she wanted to carry more junk. There are no boots in these small models so I had a little door/hatch installed in the RHS that gave us outside access under the door of the bed. I installed a stub wall that separated our outside stuff from the cleaner inside stuff under the bed.

One thing some people are likely to "warn you about" is dust ingress through the rear door. If your door seals are in good condition you get less dust in these than the side door models get in through their rear windows. All we ever got was a small patch the size of the vent in the bottom of the door. It neatly collected just inside the door. The first thing we would do after travelling a dusty road would be to remove the mat, take it away from the van and give it a good shake. That completed our housework so we were then free to use the van.

We have some neighbours that had a Nipper with single beds. They added a couple of sheets of 3/8" plywood that was nearly the size of the mattresses. They used to lay that and the mattresses across the van to make a double bed. They spent 6 months doing a lap of Oz in it. They only sold it when infirmity set in. They had a great life with it doing many more smaller trips.

I think you will enjoy yours (unless you get envious of those with larger vans and "require" an upgrade.)

Thanks PeterD........Mine has the front double bed which lifts up. Ive constructed boxes under the bed which gives us a bit more storage. The door seals seem in good nick so time will tell. If shaking the mat is all i have to do re housekeeping i will be well pleased.....

Terry, I note from your profile that you may still be a working man. We joined a caravan club whilst we were working (and still are club members.) Many of the clubs have weekend rallies, these tend to encourage you to use your van and not leave it to sit until the annual holidays. They are also a good source to assist in getting up and travelling. There is a list of Victorian clubs here. When you contact them enquire if they mainly have weekend rallies or if most of the rallies are longer. There are some clubs where the majority of members are retirees and do not have many weekend rallies.
