we intend to depart Cairns in two weeks time heading for WA via Ayers Rock, traveling through Warburton, Leonora, on to Geraldton and to Broome.
With the current G2G application, which has a self-quarantine direction, we need to supply a quarantine address, which of course we do not have and it seems the only quarantine facilities are around Perth.
Has anybody discovered a way around this problem or has anybody been actually stopped and questioned by local police or quarantine officials?
Of course our biggest fear is arriving and then to be told to quarantine for two weeks in an expensive hotel.
We are aware the quarantine situation can change overnight.
But we would very much appreciate your feedback and/or personal experience with COVID directions and the crossing of the WA border.
Welcome to GNs Lidia,
I have no knowledge of WA Regulations - Here in NSW we were allowed to lock-down at the free-camp were were currently in, when we advised Police that our house was currently being "sat" by our Niece and family, so we had no place we could lock-down to. I suggest that you advise on your form that your permanent abode is your caravan and you utilise www.fulltimecaravanning.com.au/degrey-river-wa/ as your WA base whilst travelling - it has free internet facilities & dump points.
Just buy some planter boxes and seeds (no soil or potting mix until you get over the border) and plant your herbs - so you can potter.

I am led to believe that as from yesterday 15 March, the West Australian borders are all open, and there is no need to quarantine
I have no idea what will happen in the future, re quarantine/border closure/border passes etc
As I live in the West, I have picked up on the following info
Prior to the recent WA state elections
The head of the police department, said that he would ask, (whoever won the election), for more police at the borders
The method behind the madness, is that while the borders were closed, (not many crossing), a lot of drugs were found, at the borders
He had estimated that (going from memory here) 10,000 crimes had not been committed, due to lack of drugs available, for the druggies to buy
I will assume that there could well be more police at the borders, as the current Premier, has a history of listening to his experts
When I start to cross the borders again, I will be making double sure, that all paperwork (if any required), is filled out correctly
In the past, travellers had been turned around, at the WA border, because of wrong paperwork
I assume what this may mean for all of us, is that the quarantine checks at the borders, may be longer than what happened in the past
thanks for your feedback.
The WA border situation sounds complex. We are happy to do the right thing and fill out the right paperwork, etc
We would not mind any unforeseen delays either.
But the possibility WA can force us to go into a quarantine hotel, having to fork out several thousand dollars, does not sit well and gives us more food for thought before we decide to go to WA. Maybe we'll go to NT instead or just stay in Qld.
