Nice time to be there. You will love Beechworth, lots of history. Make sure to visit nearby Yakandandah for morning tea it's about 20 minutes drive. We usually stay at Lake Sambell caravan park, nice big sites if you have a van, walking distance from the town. The ghost tour at the old asylum is fun, and educational. Wear warm clothes. Some nice wineries around too if you need a taste, such as Indigo winery. Enjoy.
Thanks fellas. Have been crook for about 3 years and the quacks have barred me with the turps - unfortunately.
Although after 2 years + of isolation I have made a comeback to golf and sneak the odd beer on a Saturday after golf.
Take the chemo drug Monday's so I don't think one a day or so before interferes too much.
Have tried just about every Zero beer there is now, some are good, some are watery.
On the 40 KM speed limits, my new Isuzu ute tells me what the limits are but I am alert - thanks.
The golf clubs will be making the trip as usual and also the light rod will be in use as I believe there are some trout thereabouts and a few redfin in Lake Sambell.
I don't mind reddies, they are an introduced perch and are considered a pest in our Western River systems but if you learn the correct technique to skin them they are good eating if you watch the bones.
Beer batter crisps up the small bones but not good for the waistline.
Currently studying a halfway camp at either Wombat or Jugiong. Just depends on what time I can get out of the quacks on the day before to try an knock a few K's off the journey so as not to overwork the new Isuzu.
Think I have been registered to play a few matches with the over 60's cricket in Northern Victoria in the summer so might be down that way a fair bit in the coming months if the knees hold out.
I am meeting a very good friend I contracted with in Canberra 2000 and we are staying at Lake Sambell van park. Looking forward to it. Think I will throw the fishing Kayak on top but the cold water could be an issue in it. She makes all the arrangements and plans, I just don't argue, agree and tag along. As she works Mon to Fri remotely overseas I get the whole week to choof off and play golf, catch dinner etc.
Looking forward to some time off and the first big trip with the new ute.
