I just found out that our insurance policies for both the car and caravan don't cover damage caused by rodents. We want to travel soon but we may go through the areas where there's a mouse plague.
Does anybody know of an insurance policy that covers damage by vermin and rodents, etcetera?
Thanks in advance for any useful help.
Edit:
So far NRMA, Suncorp and CIL do not cover vermin.

Buz, don't really like your chances as this is the wording from the CIL Caravan PDS (Policy) - They do not cover actions of animals of any kind that you do not own (including insects, moths, termites, vermin, birds or bats) but we will cover impact damage by an animal you do not own.
Now, impact damage is obviously if you hit an Emu, Kangaroo etc but not if mice chew through wiring etc. There are a couple of Home Owners Policies on the market at present that will cover some damage as a result of vermin e.g. if mice chewed through wiring & caused a fire, the damage caused by the fire is covered, providing you have fire insurance on your property,, but not the damage the mice did - if that makes sense.
There does not appear to be any Caravan/Motorhome Insurance that offers this cover at present. Also, as mentioned in another reply, they certainly wouldn't be offering it whilst there is a mouse plague present and all the publicity about it in the media.
The rats and mice that i have kept as pets for many a month now, have somehow escaped their comfortable little homes.
It appears that on their way out of my caravan, they seem to have chewd through some wires and have also crapped all over the place.
They must have got a bit excited while they had their freedom, because they also to managed to pee all over the furniture as well causing a dreadfull smell.
I fear most of the furniture and soft fixtures will need to be replaced due to the stains and smell.
Pleas send me a claim form, so i can claim for the damage caused my now free pets.
Buz, I know you would have done your homework and no doubt checked with GIO, but below is the wording from the current GIO Caravan Insurance Product Disclosure Statement (Page 22). I refer you to the wording in Bold Type:
You are not covered under any section of this policy for damage, loss, cost or legal liability that is caused by or arises from or involves:
Actions or movements of the sea any actions or movements of the sea. Agreements you enter into any agreement or contract you, or someone you authorised to tow or be in charge of your caravan, enter into accepting liability, but we will provide cover if the legal liability would have existed without that agreement or contract. Alcohol, drugs, medication an incident occurring when your caravan is being towed by, or is in the charge of, anyone who: was under the influence of, or had their judgement affected by, any alcohol, drug or medication; had more than the legal limit for alcohol or drugs in their breath, blood, saliva or urine as shown by analysis; refused to take a test for alcohol, drugs or medication. But we will pay a claim: for you (but not the driver or person in charge of your car and/or caravan) if your car and/or caravan was stolen; if it can be demonstrated that the above alcohol/drugs/medication intake was not a contributing factor in the incident. Animals animals of any kind that you own or are in your custody or control, but we will cover veterinary expenses (see page 42);
actions of animals of any kind that you do not own (including insects, moths, termites, vermin, birds or bats) but we will cover impact damage by an animal you do not own.
The lady said it was covered. I'll check the Product Disclosure Sheet(?) when the policy arrives. If they've made a mistake I've got a 21 day cooling off period. I hope that I don't have to do that because I'm sick of ringing around. Maybe Possum3 is right in paying an insurance broker to do the work for me.
It really peeves me. If I insure my vehicle I expect it to be covered for everything. The premiums would indicate that but these so called insurance companies always seem to have a cop out and that's really annoying.
