220litre Waeco Compressor Fridge

We have a Waeco 220litre Compressor Fridge in our caravan. During a normal cycle, after the Fridge has been running for some time, the compressor will stop and start several time. The Stops & starts will only last 1 -2 seconds and maybe happen 4 to 6 times. The fridge will then run normal for a period until it finishes its working cycle.

Apart from this issue the fridge keeps food cold.

What voltage is it at the back of the fridge while itsi doing the stop (voltage) starting (voltage). Sounds a bit like not enough voltage.

I take it that the fridge is doing this when halfway through its cooling cycle. You do not say whether this is when connected to 240ac, or solely on 12v. I might suggest that you locate the 240/12v change/over box, ours was located under the fridge in a cupboard, and Turn it off. See if that fixes the problem. We had trouble with this unit, and removed it, running only 12v.

Yes, the fridge is doing this possibly half way during its cooling cycle.

Atm I have 240V connected to Caravan, but it does stop & start also when on 12V free camping.

I don't know if I have a 240/12V change over box, will search tomorrow. I will say that there is a 240V double power socket in the back of the pantry which is next to the fridge compartment, and there is a hole between the 2 compartments, however, nothing is plugged into this power outlet. Bit of work for tomorrow.

The other thing I found, is that if the fan which is against the condenser mounted with the compressor, drags too much current, and I'm talking a few milli-amps the fridge computer detects this and shuts down the system. I know because I tried to fit another fan in parallel, doesn't work!
