Do I need a dc dc charger in my tow vehicle?

I have just signed of on the build specifications on a new caravan.

It will have an Enerdrive solar setup, using Enerdrive solar panels, and B Tec Batteries etc.

The system with have solar controllers, dc2dc charger, and ac charger.

The one thing I am not sure of, is if I need a dc2dc charger in my tow vehicle as well?

these are the specs.

Enerdrive 400amp board I, inc Simarine upgrade package. 2600w invertor. 2x 200Ah Btec batteries. Morningstar 45A solar controller. DC2DC charger & 60 amp AC charger.

It wiill be using 4x 180W Enerdrive solar panels on the caravan.

You don't need a dcdc charger unless you have an aux battery bank. Then it should be as close to the aux battery as possible.

Oh and its good to run your solar through it also. I rarely need the dc charger as the lithium charges very quickly from 400 watts solar , but being you have gone so far with such a great system it would be a great addition

The only time you should run your solar panels through a DC-DC charger is if it is a dual unit that is designed to be both a solar controller and a DC-DC charger. These units are designed to accept voltage inputs that are both higher and lower than the battery voltage. The units that are solely DC-DC chargers are not designed to accept the higher voltages.
