Truma Hot Water Problem

Hi All.

Started hot water unit this morning ,after 20 minutes there was a pop and water dumped out of drain pipe.

Turned off hose and gas ,unit dumped all water.Turned hose back on and water came out of drain pipe.

Cannot find a isolation tap on water inlet to unit.Am in Quilpie at present and no caravan repairs anywhere.

Problem is cannot turn pump on as same happens so no water to van any help welcomed.

Our Truma hot water service is up the front of our caravan in a cupboard, just to left under the caravan behind the main chassis in the water line is a isolation tape as per the photo to turn the water off.

The second funny looking thing is a in line preasure reducer, don't touch or play with it.

Let us know how you went.

Hi.
Hot water unit is Truma in middle of Franklin Razorback with Goldstream compliance plates.
Have been in touch with Goldstream and there is no isolation tap in system. They have advised i will need to have one installed.
Will try and work out problem today as it will be a couple of weeks until can get to caravan repairer. Thanks for advise.

I google plumbers in Quilpie and it come up with a couple of answers.

That reminds me, a few years back in Quilpie caravan park, I gave a fellow some john guest fitting to solve a problem he had with cushed water line, next morning returned new ones back to me which I was not expecting as they old spares I carried just to be sure.

So he must of got them in Quilpie because it is a long way from anywhere else.

A cheap irrigation plastic tap fitted in the line would get him out of trouble I got a them on my water tunks and serve the purpose to stop the water running out onto the ground and very easy obtainable at the local hardware shop in Quilpie.

Thanks all for replies.
Brought in line tap and plastic tube from hardware this morning Fitted only to find out tap leakes and would not shut off.
Shoved double a battery into plastic tube not pretty but worked.Heater isolated and can now use pump and water tanks in van.
I believe pressure valve did its job as yellow lever was in vertical position, laid lever horisontal but water still poured out of drain.
Do not know reason for pressure build up will get unit looked at when in major centre.
Have ordered john-guest-12mm-shut-off-valve and will fit.

Doddo, Be aware Double A battery will contaminate water system - better off shaving down a small branch/twig with sharp knife and using as a plug.
