Most good Exhaust/muffler fitters should be able to manufacture a set - I have previously used Liverpool exhaust in Moorebank NSW to make specialised extractors

Was the the turbo fitted with boost control
as in wastgate ? Water / meth injection works well ! Im sure it wouldnt take an exhaust shop long to fabricate any difference. With extractors . I doubt it will help much being a low rpm motor ? If you match ported the cast manifold and tidied up the angles forging a little would help . Keeps wallet happy too !!

There are water cooled turbo chargers available. In the Brisbane area, a few businesses do them. I cannot vouch for the performance of the units or the performance of the companies concerned. Would a water cooled turbo offer a solution for you? Maybe there are people you could check in your locality?

Hi my turbo is water cooled and it does have a waste gate ,adjusted it down to about 9 psi no difference thats why i decided to take it off and just put extractors on there is one company in adelaide would make some for my bus but the cost would be about $2000 to $3000 thats why i thought i could adapt landcruiser extractors there seems enough room between engine and chassis and you can buy them for about $400.00 was hoping someone had done this Cheers Ted

Turbo helps increase power -----more power ,more heat generation.

Suggest bigger radiator and an oil cooler  and also make sure Boost is controlled .  4.2 1HZ is a good motor. Extractors will probably make no appreciable  difference.

Hi thanks for that put new radiator in and put biggest graig davies fan on front of radiator also renewed viscos fan oil would like to put intercooler on but nowhere to fit it have gas exhaust guage on and that will go straight up to 450 at 110 kph and temp to 95 ,sit on 75 to 80 kph and every thing is good night driving is perfect when cool night so know head and gasket are ok did think of putting inercooler under floor on drivers side and run a thermo fan but for cost if it didnt work more money down the drain cheers Ted

This business seems to do plenty of advertising for 4WD exhausts. Ship across Australia. I suspect they do extractors.

 Hi tedric smile

I think that my solution would be this ! Possibly the original turbo fitter has adjusted the fuel delivery to an excessively high amount. Diesel engines run better and more efficiently with a turbo but you do not have to put in the max amount of fuel all the time. Just a modest increase might be good.

So go to a good diesel shop and get the max fuel turned down. It can be turned down a bit, or half, or back to the standard amount if you wanted that and the engine will still run better than without a turbo. They may also put a lower boost diaphram controller on the turbo if it is currently excessively high.

good luck Jaahn

Yep . A new radiator but NOT as you suggested a bigger radiator!! Fan shrouds make a heap of difference ! Changing down and coming off throttle when towing on hills ! Another that helps with cooling or keeping cooling system happy is a big header : expansion tank to allow for extra coolant expansion during higher temps and load on engine . An intercooler wont help
Engines temps much !! But it will assist in more power ! Have you looked into adding a little LPG ?

Hi thank you for the help will go to a diesel tuning place and have fuel checked the reason i was after extractors was the original exhaust manifold was cracked so it was dumped ,the price of a new one was double that of extractors that was why i was looking at extractors Thanks again everyone Cheers Ted

Hmm ? Theres a reason why it cracked ? I grind out crack . Then heat up manifold . Using correct wire . Mig weld the manifold . Check the outer holes in manifold flange have plenty of room so if - when manifold expands ? Its not distorted by bolts or studs !! Use good thick washers .

Hi aus i have actually got rid of old exhaust manifold ,didnt think i needed it when turbo fitted ,the s/h motor i fitted was out of a 80 series and i put the turbo complete with manifold on with the heating problem i want to go back to standard and because the motor is out of a 80 series land cruiser i assumed extractors for that model would bolt straight on and front engine pipe would have to be made up but dont seem to have anyone in adelaide that agrees with me so i think i will chase down new or s/h exhaust manifold and get front pipe remade Thanks for your help Cheers Ted

I buy flanges off Liverpool Exhaust and make turbo manifolds myself with steam pipe and cast fittings from Blackwoods . Imo a turbo diesel is more durable & reliable once set up correct . If timing is too retarded or mixture too rich ? They can run hot due to fuel not having time to burn in cylinder . Burning in exhaust . Unlike petrol engines , diesels generally run more advance ( injector timing ) Its still having the cooling for the power / torque levels also !! My Brother 3.3 Nissan got pretty hot with continuous boost on hills . It was brand new . We fitted larger radiator ! End of cooling issues !!

Hi Aus i have checked and gone through every thing i am a retired mechanic and have gone through every basic thing i could think of ,the motor was second hand out of a landcruiser 80-100 series and had turbo on it was told it had done 280000 klm but i took sump off and replaced con rod bearings water pump timing belt ect my main question was has anyone put extractors in a HZB50 1hz motor bus i wasnt afer any increase in power just the cost but none of the exhaust places seem to think they will fit and yet they sell extractors for the HZB30 with 1HZ motor ,i live on 80 acres about 200 klms from any town so its not easy to get answers from theses guys but thank you for your help Cheers Ted
