Has anyone else run into the issue of having to pay for domestic travel PCR testing at all?
We are heading to SA from ACT after border to SA opens on 23 Nov and they require a COVID19 test be undertaken within 72 hours of crossing into SA, even for us fully vaccinated folk. I have no issue with the test and I can get from the ACT to Pinnaroo in SA within the 72 hours with van in tow; however, in the ACT you cannot at the govt provided PCR test unless you have symptoms. So Capital Pathology in the ACT can provide the test for $145 per person per test. So I was wondering if others have experienced the same issues of having to pay for domestic travel PCR testing when crossing borders. I also can't find anything on the websites re pensioner discounts but will talk to Capital Pathology to see if the PCC is of any assistance.
There is no Medicare rebate available for the COVID-19 PCR test for travel, as these tests are for asymptomatic patients only.
Pay for your COVID-19 PCR test ticket. Use the payment box to pay for your PCR test ticket (s). Upon successful transaction, you will receive a tax invoice and your PCR test ticket (s). Each ticket contains a QR code as proof of payment.
Thanks Possum3.
Sorry Craig being deceitful isn't me nor doing things in the spirit we should be following. SA are actually happy with the normal free covid check where you just receive an sms showing the result. It is just you can't have the free test undertaken in the ACT unless symptomatic. I was just interested if anyone had obtained the free govt test, legitimately, or whether all States and Territories do not allow the free test if not symptomatic. It will be interesting to see if any other govt authority follows the same line as SA. Watch this space I guess. Perhaps SA has released the availability of applying for travel post 23/12 early to gauge public comment, in a round about way. The SA covid hotline did mention they have had a few calls re this change.
Cheers and thanks again.

In Vic you can get a covid test whether symtomatic or not. Feeling unwell or having been exposed, ie an exposure site. I was tested recently after having been to the local supermarket in the same timeframe as an infected person. I believe now in Vic they are no longer listing exposure sites due to the 90% vacc. rate.
