Outback Queensland roadtrip to Karumba from Hunter Valley

Planning on driving from Hunter Valley to Karumba from end April to when I head home. Will be towing 14' off road caravan, staying at mainly free camps but then at caravan parks at times.

Anybody interested in tagging along for part of or whole of journey?

Route of travel is via Lightning Ridge,  Emerald, Barcaldine, Hughenden, Julia Creek, Karumba, Georgetown,  Cobbold Gorge, Cooma Beach, Paronella Park,  Greenvale,  Charters Towers, to Hunter Valley. Lots of things to see,  photo, do, walk, fish  swim along the way.

Any interested?

Hi Troopie,
There will be plenty of people travelling those routes at that time of the year so you won't be lonely or in strife bailed up with car/van trouble.

HOWEVER IF YOU HAVEN'T BOOKED into any caravan parks, you'll have to get into the free camps early. A couple of years ago we saw people who booked year after year to get into Karumba.

Hope you enjoy the trip, catch a few fish & beware of the big lizards! If you haven't been there before, there is only one tide a day (most other places have two).
Tours that are good at Karumba are the birdwatchers dawn trip, the sunset tour to the mouth of the Norman River with cheese & drinks, looking at "red eyes" in the river on the way back. Swimming in the river is not a healthy pastime!
