Big red Bash Birdsville 2022

Has anyone been to this event in previous years and can you tell me what the road conditions are like.  We are reading mixed reviews.  The dirt component will be Windorah to Birdsville and that is what we would like some information on.

Thanks

Windorah to Birdsville is sealed until Diamantina Dev Road and Birdsville Dev Road turnoff. Leading up to BRB the road is usually graded but depending on weather and crowds travelling it might become cut up pretty quickly. Before grading there will be long stretches of wheel ruts where largish sharp rocks are pushed outward from wheels. Every so often people will criss-cross looking for a better track and this can cut up the road. Nearing concrete culverts there may be gaps from erosion but nothing uncrossable. Usual caveat: decent condition tyres, drop pressure, drive to conditions,

Unfortunately Peter, mixed reviews are as good as you will get this far out from the event

The conditions can change daily, especially if there is any rain.

If you have booked for the event, the road will be whatever it is on the day. Prepare by having decent tyres, under van pipe work protected, and your car serviced. Then drove to the conditions you find.
