We have planned to travel at the end of July from Adelaide to Toowoon Bay, Nambucca Heads, Coolum and Rainbow Beach. This is our usual winter trip which we have postponed since the outbreak of Covid.
We would welcome any advice on the risks related to Covid when travelling. Many thanks.
If you are flying and spending time at airports and on aircraft then dont do it.
You may very well become a statistic.
If you are on a coach then a similar answer from me will be forthcoming.
If you are in your own vehicle then by all means do the trip.
I would once again avoid crowds and particularly indoor gatherings.
I would ensure my vaccinations are up to date, only for the fact that if you contract Covid then those vaccinations just might keep you out of hospital and remove the pressure on the already strained hospital systems.
The other precautions are pretty basic stuff with washing and sanitising of hands etc of which the advice comes to us world wide.
I carry a couple of test kits but at this stage with normal precautions have not had to use them.
Your trip could involve a lot of outdoor activity so enjoy and travel safely.

Welcome to Biggs Country many may know it as Australia
do the usual sanitizing of hands, face masks in places you can't keep your distance and make sure you have all vaccines available to you . so when you do catch it ,(the chances are you will as there are more cases now than when we were locked down)and hope the effects are mild. i recently tested positive to covid, symptoms like a cold it lingered then tested positive to flu still no worst than a cold i have had all 4 shots plus flu
The latest Omicron versions appear to be more contagious and more resistant to the vaccines. Having said that, the most important thing to do is wear a mask as the virus is usually transferred by droplets. Hand sanitising is important, as always, but less so than wearing a mask to avoid transmission by air.
There is currently a third wave of COVID-19. More people are dying in Australia in the last six months than previous to that so the pandemic is NOT over.
As others have said, wear masks, wash hands, avoid busy areas (sometimes not possible), shop early in the morning when it's quieter, write up a shopping list so you don't fiddle around in the shop. Buy a takeaway coffee instead of sitting at a cafe. Walk on quieter streets, stay on the up wind side.
It's all easy stuff & doesn't really impede getting on with life.
