Towing Nissan Patrol Y62

Anybody towing a 2800kg.ish van with a Nissan Patrol Y62. How bad is the fuel economy. Low 20ltrs per 100k would be acceptable

Sure there's a forum out there with this info.
I think you'd be looking closer to 30/100. Economical when not towing but
like most petrol engine, use a lot when towing. Less then a comparable vehicle
for example a petrol 200 series Landcruiser.
Sure someone on here will have something to say, helpful or not.

There was a comparison on " which car " or similar early this year between y62 and 200lc, not much difference

Thanks for that I did find the article. Fuel consumption was vertually the same and given diesel is at the moment 40c dearer than petrol it is looking like an option.

I have a Series 4 Y62 , we have just returned home from a 14858k trip towing a Complete Campsite Exodus 14 , we used 3146lts of fuel , that's about 21.2lts x 100 if Im correct . We did Lorella Springs , Gibb River Rd . We travel mostly at the speed limit + a little bit if Im to be honest we don't hold trucks , road trains up they never need to overtake us and we very rarely need to overtake them . Our total weight the day we left was 5840Kg . I have a 300kg GVM upgrade for the 62 because its very easy to exceed the max GVM especially the rear axle .

My GQ 4.2 EFI (petrol) Patrol when pulling the 2334 Kg Jayco Westport at 85/95 Km/hr uses 21L/100k.

Overall trip consumption with < 20% without van consistently returns 19.2 L/100k.

I'm happy with that.

Not quite sure how to start this reply; as I do not wish to offend or dispute responders to the OP.

I have just sold both my 2013 GXL 200 Series Landcruiser and my Zone RV, 21ft tandem axle Custom van; loaded weight of 2500 kg.

I switched to BP diesel (and ONLY BP) at 90000km`s and experienced little or no "soot" on the rear, quieter motor and more power.

The odometer was at 250000 ish when I sold the cruiser. Very particular about using BP. I had a heads up from the CEO from the shire of Euroa in Victoria who had completed a survey into vehicle/fuel brand usage. So from there I offer the following after switching to BP.

Yes, is is often a tad more expensive by at the end of the day I feel I am in front.

My consumption from the 90K mark was: on a really good day - 16.5 ltrs/100, not so good around 18ltrs/100, full on head wind 22.

They are van towing figures only.

But I only drive into a full on head wind if its necessary.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Hetho.

The Op actually asked about a Nissan Patrol Y62 , I really fail to see the relevance of some of the other answers

And a petrol power vehicle at that. Maybe Hetho thinks the Y62 is diesel.no

No I did comment that petrol is currently 40cent a litre cheaper than diesel and this makes the higher fuel usage more palatable. I'm after a comfortable vehicle to cruise long distances not a truck/ute
