Good one!
In June when we were there it was bone dry.
Is that old bus near the dunnies still there?

In 2016 it was full, we wanted to camp up the top end at The Wattles campground but it was being used as search HQ by the SES & Police.

A guy in a kayak had gone missing, they found his remains when the lake dried out.

It is still there, and it has a twin as well.

Cheers, Joe.

 Thanks Joe.

It'd been there for about a year before we got there.

Nothing wrong with that but it must be very boring for the occupants.

Lake Tyrrell at Sea Lake Victoria has also filled after many years.

Gee the local businesses in Sea Lake wouldn't be happy with that.
Asian tourist flock there to see the pink salt & take selfies.

I wonder if Lake Albactya got any water. I dont think it has any since the 1980s.

I doubt  that Hindmarsh would have filled enough to overflow through Outlet Creek to Albacutya.

Our son & daughter are 44 & 42 years old, we have photos of them as toddlers wading in the shallows of Albacutya.smile

Even though Albacutya is dry we still liked camping at Western Beach. There is still a boat ramp there and a lady in nearby Rainbow told us they used to water ski on it when they were kids.

People were there in their multitudes the other night for the eclipse.

Cheers, Joe.

 Hi Granty,

Lake Albacutya is still dry as a bone.

All the surrounding areas, like much of Western Victoria are very soggy.

Many paddocks are like lakes on the low corners.

Tchum lake has the south end campsite under water.

At Wooroonook lake, just the top of the power pole posts are sticking out of the water.

Lake Buloke is bursting at the seams

The damage to virtually all bitumin roads in the area  is incredible, all the way east at least to the Ballarat/Bendigo line.

Cheers, Joe.

Its amazing how much water is about. Why doesnt the lake get any water any more. Has the catchment area altered to feed the water elsewhere. ?

There's a weir at the southern end near Jeparit that controls the amount of water flowing from the Wimmera River into Lake Hindmarsh.

At the northern end is Outlet Creek it runs into Lake Albacutya when Hindmarsh is full.

When Albacutya is full it overflows onto the Wirrengren Plain near Patchewollock.

The Wimmera River has its origins in the Grampians.
