My Heng Industries fan roof vent/12V fan had an episode where the motor was stuck on, the vent was sent skywards breaking the plastic housing where the motor screws on the underside, and burning out the circuit board.
A google search shows burnt out circuit boards are fairly common problem amongst multiple brands. I'd rather do simple surgery rather than replace the whole thing, but I don't want to throw good money after bad.
Has anyone replaced a circuit board in a 12 V roof vent fan? If so, where did you buy it from?

Welcome to GN's Paula - I have often heard of vent fans failing but, am unaware of anyone rebuilding one. I would suggest taking broken componentry to Jaycar or similar store and asking one of their tech-heads have they got a replacement.

The circuit board would not normally be a spare part. The fan is essentially irreparable. If it were available it would probably cost the same or even more than a replacement fan.
It could be a simple fix on the PCB such as a burnt track., if it stayed on driving the motor points to a shorted component, or a limit switch fault. As most members say replace the whole unit unless you have skills to trouble shot or repair.
Yeah it's looking like a replacement. Would be nice to buy one from a bricks and mortar shop rather than online. Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated. Now to remove 50 tons of sikaflex from my van ......
Could it be that the reason the ventilation fan failed is because of too thin wiring, which resulted to too lower voltage thus the circuit working too hard for too long?

Defiantly thin wiring. From my pre-operative surgery on the fan (inside the van) the only thing thinner in the vicinity was a strand of my hair. The installation job by a nameless company (inland on mid north coast of NSW) would not even rate on a scale of incompetence. The the fan leaked like a sieve after installation - I couldn't take it back as I'd moved interstate. They obviously had a shortage of silicone at the time and never heard of sikaflex, let alone decent wiring. I mean, what are we supposed to do? Stand on the shoulder of the "technicians" working on our vans to make sure they do a decent job? It's such a pain, paying lots of $$$ for a crap job. Oh and I've order a Maxxair fan as a replacement. I'll install it myself (considering the wiring is already there), I could do a better job blindfolded with my arms tied behind my back!
