Usually the Motoring Organisations have the best deals (RACV, NRMA, etc) - I have found that all insurance companies are reluctant payers when the time comes to pay out.
I have had dealings with CIL (caravan specialist insurers) who actually treated me OK - although their premiums were higher than the others.

We changed our policies for both cars, our caravan & home/contents from GIO to RACV around 6 years ago.
We were satisfied with RACV for a while but over the past two years the premiums seem to be climbing substantially higher.
We had a recent severe weather event in our area & speaking to a neighbor who's home had suffered damage he told us that he'd received great service from APIA when he claimed for damage.
I contacted APIA about our car insurance that was up for renewal & they were $130 cheaper than RACV so we changed over to them.
Our caravan insurance will probably go the same way, it just proves the saying ''lazy tax'', if you stay with the same company too long you get screwed.
Best to shop around I think.

Have a look at your State ( where ever that is ) RAC insurance then get quotes from the other insurance companies and/ or your own personal experience,
I recently had a large total loss payout from our RAC mob,
No quibbles...no delays...no difficult questions,
Once they had done their own checks l received the money within two days.
I had previously made two accidental/ vandalism claims to the same vehicle in the last few years.
Same thing...no delays etc etc from said insurance company in any way..
Getting a decent accident payout ( market value ) from other companies in past years has seen some argie bargy though.
We insure our caravan with NRMA and even though the premium is a tad higher the policy is agreed value only. Previous claims have always been dealt with satisfactorily.

I always say that the quality of an insurance company is never known until you make your first claim! I have everything insured with RAC (WA) and they have never disputed a claim. I broke my awning on my caravan during a wind storm and had to replace the entire unit which they paid for without question with no excess. I am sure you could get cheaper quotes but as they say, the proof of the pudding is what happens when you make a claim!
Sum insured : $110,000 + $1,000 contents.
Cost: $1,224 per annum
No excess

Similar experiences here with motoring organisations.
Our house is with another company but I've had no issues with RAA, RACQ where wheels are utilised.
If you are a hard nut type going into remote rough areas, I'd query the company's cover but I'm certain they cover you on gazetted roads.
