Re Seal Thetford Ensuite

I had the toilet cassette out today and then could see light coming through on the outside edge of toilet seat support curve. Looks like "someone",(factory person) has applied silicone over the mastic to cover original poor application from 2014.

Once I remove the offending goop, what is the best product to re seal please ?

Thetford say Butyl sealant, but Sellys only give theirs a 5 year life span.DSCN8087.JPGDSCN8089.JPG

Bumma!

I would just use Sikaflex. Sticks and seals. It always does a good job.

Does that mean I should use " crapalastic " to repair, or " Holy batstick " ??

Run two strips of masking tape about 5mm either side of the gap you want to fill.  It looks like it will be a big gap so may have to go more.  Cut the nozzle to suit and apply a bead of sikaflex to the gap.  You can then either use your finger or one of the special spreaders from the big green shed to smooth it off and feather the edge to the edge of the making tape.

If you use your finger do not wipe it on the inside of cupboards or the underside of shelves etc like they do when they build the vans no

Spoke to both Thetford and Sikaflex today.

Conclusion is to use Sika 295 UV , with a primer first and also Remove All existing goop as a must.
