It wasn't 'Monty', our resident python who we see around the house now & then. This one has different markings just behind his head & on his tail, & like 'Monty' has a tick just behind it's eye, but Monty's Tick is behind his right eye, this one is on the left.
Recently we've been worried about Monty, not having seen him for a couple of weeks or more, since I accidentally stood on him in the dark. But a few mornings ago he caused me a 'start' & I spilled some of MrsTea's morning tea I was taking to the bedroom. Monty was passing the French Window doors to the bedroom, on the veranda, stretched out straight parallel to the door jamb. "SNAKE!" spills tea "Oh it's Monty, not a venomous risk" - carry on, step over him to take the tea in.
This morning's visitor is a newbie (to us). Initially seen from the breakfast table as it climbed up, & passed through the birdbath close by. That's why there were some birds 'going off'. They alerted me to the snake's presence. It is the 6th Scrub (Amethystine) Python we've seen since we've been here, 3 close to the house & 3 out in the forest. In all our time up in the north we hoped to see one, but never had until we came to the Iron Range rainforest.
