Distance from centre of rear axle to tow ball.

My new Pathfinder has over a metre, and the factory tongue is a little short . My Adria 3004 hitch touches on the vertical part of the tongue. Bad design for euro hitches.IMO. I bought a new HR tongue that is welded on a 45deg angle but its about 30mm longer to the ball, that gives me plenty of clearance. That shouldn't make bugger all difference as I'm only towing 2000kg ATM. What do you guys think?

I'm uncertain of the maximum load your hitch is rated at, technically if it is rated above load it is OK.

Not a problem, assuming you stick to 200kg (10%) towball weight. When you're running close to maximum tow capacity for your vehicle every extra inch in TBO makes a difference, but you're way under your rated maximum. Towbar is rated at 270kg. Go for it, and enjoy your travels! Cheers

Thanks, yeah I feel privileged that I can tow a 22foot on-sweet caravan with all the fruit and tow at 13 to 14 l/100ks petrol 3.5 v6 with enough power.

Well done! The Pathfinder is a great light-weight tow car and you're well within limits. Just watch your car's rear axle weight by not loading too much into the back of the car. Take care. Cheers
