Hi Liz, Welcome to the Forum.

As we don't know about your experiences, and what you are wanting to do with your Motorhome, it is almost impossible to say anything other than Jayco are the largest manufacturer in Australia. Most of what they build is fit for purpose, they are usually OK regarding warranty claims.

I assume you are starting from scratch regarding "Nomading".

Before you spend any of your hard-earned money, I advise you to download all the free information and checklists at www.caravancouncil.com.au/

The main thing to remember about buying any caravan or motorhome is; "Whenever a dealer opens their mouth they are only interested in getting your money, the truth is not their game - The facts will always be massaged for their product to be sold at maximum profit to them.

I have a 2006 Jayco Conquest (the motorhome in my Avatar) on a Fiat Ducato chassis

I have not had any major problems on the Jayco side, but I will point out that spare parts, as well as service places, are very few and far between for Fiat Ducato vehicles

and thanks also for the information about the possibility of the challenges getting spare parts and finding service places ... sounds like you have experienced those irritations yourself ... have you found things have gotten any better over the years? ... you sound like a seasoned traveler ?? is Jayco picking up their act any to respond to the growing numbers of GN's do you think ?

Most folk I know who have bought Jaycos have accepted that they are well designed but built to a price. If you purchase expecting to fix up a few minor things you'll be happy.If you expect perfection you may not be. Examples from a couple of friends in recent times have been the need to fill gaps with sealant to prevent dust getting in, & an ongoing drama with overheating brakes eventually fixed under warranty after some hassle to achieve this because components had been fitted incorrectly & needed to be replaced.

I once met a couple with a well travelled Jayco potop camper at Mungerannie, on the Birdsville Track & distinctly recall them recommending buying a used Jayco rather than new as most if not all of the wrinkles would have been ironed out buy the first owner in use.

To answer the following parts of your questions

I carry as spares, because for whatever reasons, they were hard to come by, from Fiat
1 new radiator (this will be my 4th radiator, and they are not cheap)
1 fuel filter, plus special tool to change fuel filter (without the special tool, there is a chance of the fuel filter leaking)
1 second hand heater/aircon blower fan (unable to purchase a new one, from anywhere)
1 new windscreen wiper motor (managed to bodgy up the broken original one, before the new one arrived)
1 new clutch master cylinder
1 new clutch slave cylinder

you sound like a seasoned traveler ??

I am only a part time traveller, I have only travelled 120,000 kilometres, since purchasing the second hand 2006 Fiat Ducato, in 2014

I have no idea, as this is the only Jayco, I have owned
I can only say that they do not have an electric wire drawing for my motorhome
They also do not have the same interior roof lights for my motorhome (they no longer stock them)
They do not have the shower base for my motorhome (made in America but no longer made)

I am not complaining, I am only explaining

hmmm ... thanks for all the details ... you certainly sound well prepared and hope you have better luck in the future with any eventuality you and your Jayco may come up against ... not sure how adventurous I will be when and where I set out ... but I will keep your good advice in mind that's for sure!
