Solo male traveller

Hi everyone, I'm very new here, unfortunately I lost my better half recently, we were going to become permanent nomads but now I'm doing it on my own and thought I would join GNF to see if there is someone to accompany me here.

Welcome to the Forum Ernwal.

There are many on here that are permanently touring, some meet up with like-minded people that they do tag along with, although they usually meet up out there camping in the great wide World whilst touring.

Oh that's really sad Ernwal.  I hope you find company along the way and enjoy your travels.  I just spent 4 months on the road from FNQ to Pt Macquarie, was heading to Tassie but that was cancelled. I wasn't pulling a van so I found it difficult to connect with travellers.

If you or anyone else is heading to the Cape I'm near Palmer River Roadhouse so get in touch, come out and spend a night or two off grid in a remote area which is quite a magical spot:  brumbies, dingoes, kangaroos, boars, cattle, freshwater crocs in my dam. Take care.

Welcome to the Forum Nomad008 - Don't worry about not travelling with a van, there are many like the child-bride and myself that will wader over to nearby campers with a bag of Baja Mix ready for a chinwag.

Thanks for the reassurance possum3.

Can I offer you some free advice? If I were you I'd not make public declarations of your wife being a child bride, no matter what the situation or the reason! If you are travelling with a child bride what does that make you? Think about it. Not appropriate.

Any solo women travellers out there?

That's interesting Spida. Never saw one in my travels south Feb-May.  Would welcome all solo travellers heading north to the Cape or Cooktown to call in and stay over in hidden sanctuary off road 16kms west of Palmer River Roadhouse in Byerstown range - you'll be surprised! Women solos encouraged :D

Wanting a female companion or solo women but no solo men for isolated property is sounding a little off. I agree do your hunting elsewhere or better still have a long hard think as to why others feel this way?

I have always disliked the way one member refers to his wife, as pointed out it implies a certain thought and is demeaning and nasty.

Just my thoughts if I'm proven wrong I will apologize.

Oh My Goodness! How things can be so misconstrued in a blink of the eye. I'm not a new member by the way. I've been a member for years, just only ever posted once when I joined way back. I've spent time travelling solo and camping in 2016 and again in 2023 and never met up with solo travellers. I offered free camping and an opportunity to see a great little spot now that I'm back from my travels as I've seen alot of nomads on the road, and the message, probably the way I worded it, got a little skewed and misinterpreted. But hey, we all see and hear and think differently, its our perception on life. Like attract like - birds of a feather flock together. So good luck to you all and enjoy your travels and thanks for the feedback. :D

Kebbin, if it is "Child-bride" you object to, tough. That is how my wife refers to herself, to many we meet and her family, as she is forever young at heart. There is nothing demeaning or nasty about the term of endearment.

 Good luck on your travels.

You May wonder why some people are sceptical. You attempt to portray to others you have been a member for years, but your profile says you have been a member since 27/12/2022.

I just dont believe this forum should be used as a dating site, or men seeking companionship or women seeking companionship.

Just my opinion, which others may not agree with.

Hmm, from 1newbie to another, I guess this would depend on where, when, duration of your travels. Im contemplating doing the half south up to Broome but not b4 end August, at which time it may just be 2hot??? Been trying to work the courage to for past 3years & still stuck in Sydneyno. Joined a couple of years ago but come into forum 1-2 times a year 2read up on latest good spots. In love with those gooorgeous pics of our western coast where fish jump up to be hooked...LOL so they tell us!!!
