What would you think of this format for your van?

Sitting at a camp in the Gulf country last week speculating of how a

van with a forward overhead pod at the front like RV's have had for

years that is the sleeping quarters.

Geez, how much room one would have at the floor level without the

sleeping quarters taking up a third of the floorspace!

The pod would protrude high over the drawbar area and as far as I can see

not present any kind of problem at all. 5th wheelers do it - why not a van?

You see so many silly innovations - ie the back folding verandah - wouldn't

that be nice in a jampark looking onto the back of the van behind?

No need for slideouts then either.

What do you think?

The reasoning for not building over the A Frame is to allow van to turn corners with hitting tug. A fifth wheeler or gooseneck pivot doesn't have this problem. Build a dog trailer & you could have a two storey RV view.

If this is high enough to not cause an issue with hitting the vehicle when turning its going to be very high, which is a real issue with getting in and out of the bed particularly as we age. There are also of course issues with ball weight. There are vans/campers with drop down beds over this area like Expanda's, but I really can't see how it works with a full size van.

We have a 25' Van, after 9 years while our current layout is great, there are a number of changes we would make if ordering a new van.

No caravan fridge, household digital inverter one (done that 7 years ago).

No roof top vents or air conditioning (mount a digital inverter split system.)

Vent for shower on back or sidewall.

Toilet cassette to be accessed from the rear.

Single large slide out.

Airbag suspension that can be raised for travel and lowered for stops.

Fill water tanks from main water suppy using solenoids to activate,.

Water and power connections at the rear of the van.

Every power point to have USB plug and Cat 7 network port, connected to a router.

We sleep in the back on the car most of the time, couldn't be stuffed putting up a tent. If desperate we turn on the engine to run air conditioning.
