Sent from my imperial66 typewriter using carrier pigeon, message sticks and smoke signals.
Our son has been to both Fiji & Magnetic Island (Townsville) - he said there wasn't much difference between the two.
However some visit for work, others for pleasure - enjoy your trip.

If you don't get it done today, there's always tomorrow!
Sorry, but I have to ask, why are you going to Fiji if you know nothing about it? Basher
So you've never been to a new place?????
Now you have me worried! My life is spent visiting new places, with Great Central Road and Alice Springs in my sights, but I may have to reconsider since I know nothing about these places. Never mind, at least when I return to places I have already visited I can relax, because already I know about them. What a relief. Cheers
I normally conduct some research on the places I am about to visit. Maybe that is what the writer is doing by asking for advice on this forum. However I would normally conduct my research before I booked a seat on an aeroplane. Cheers,

That is what I like to do as well. However about 12 years ago one of my daughters phoned to say "We have made a snap decision to go to Fiji. There is a great deal so we are booking tonight. Would you like to come?"
Maybe the thoughtless responder could consider there are various reasons why someone would pose such a question.
I didn't answer the OP's question because we stayed in island resorts which is like a different country to mainland Fiji.

Pretty much the point I was making, but apparently thats not normal, geez,
In answer to the original post, Fiji generally is a nice place to visit, but for me, not for more than a week or so. It is largely a third world economy that relies on tourist dollars to support it. There are many activities; fishing, swimming, fast boat rides, sandy beaches and palm trees. I took a hot-air balloon ride that was a particularly great experience when I was there about 10 years ago. Do some more recent research and enjoy!
