Had a problem with the grey water though it was something blocking it, so I gave it a double dose of drain, that seemed to sort of solved the problem, and then this morning, the lady of the house put a load of washing into the machine, during the rinse and spin cycles the water was backing up into the shower base.
So off to the big green shed grabbed a couple of lengths od pipe an assortment of connectors, joining goop. Then I grabbed the recip saw and proceeded to cut out all the old pipe from just behind the wheels, inspecting the pipe at the cuts a great globule of calcium at 2 locations where the pipes intersection, thus causing the water to back up to the shower.
Rerouted the grey water system what I perceived to be better using less pipe than the origional layout, ended up with a 3 meter length spare.
My mate bought a Jurgens Solaris and what a complete lemon of a caravan that was, but that is another story.
One of the serious faults with that was the grey water system flooding the van particularly when the washing machine was used but even with the shower.
On our big lap with him and his wife, it became a standing joke to see him taking a bath in grey water under his van as he tried to get it draining.
One of the issues was the installation of several non return rubber socks that they had fitted in the lines which quickly became blocked with anything other than liquid that found it's way down the drain.
We took some of those out and partially modified the system which got them home but what a nightmare, along with copious water leaks and cupboard doors raining off on a brand new van they had a lovely time.
On a recent trip our shower tray was slow to drain. Seemed like the grey water pipe that services both the shower & the vanity basin was clogged.
In fact a hair ball had formed in the drain fitting in the shower base. I cut out the strands of hair wrapped around the top of the fitting and applied a strong jet of water.
Out came a bloody great cylinder of gunk - hair and soap or whatever. All fixed.
Wifey thinks that I am a clever dick who can fix anything! I didn't disillusion her.
Cough... hairball.
Hairballs at home or van made with 300mm dark red hair.. not mine!.
Last van I added a shower drain diagonally opposite the original. Much better.

My wife uses one of those sieves / mesh filter thingos that fits in the shower drain....as well as the kitchen sink....as we were warned about hair etc when first bought van. The hair is not a real problem to clean out of filter (she just hands it to me ...and I have a Old Timer stockknife )....but the kitchen sink one is messier...so she has 2 ready for a quick swap...and the other dirty ones are reversed flushed outside under tap. I also dose the grey tank at the start of each use....and at home do a full flush of the system with tank cleaner before storage. So far so good after 5 years hey.
