What your repairer has suggested I did that my Franklin, solved the leak issue, plus I never opened that window, or put the outside cover up, so suited being sealed for good. Didn't affect the sale of it as well, the new owner was drawn t it bec ause the front window was gone. It never leaked after it was done.

Front windows were required before caravans utilized LED lighting in kitchen areas.

They all are prone to leaking, with a resultant water damage to frame and insulation. I agree with your repairer - remove window, replace with aluminium, install insulation in front panel and replace incandescent lights with LED's, particularly over kitchen bench.

Thanks for the input. We already have led lighting throughout, so thats ok. The insulation is a good tip, never thought of that, so thanks.

Looking out a window or LED lighting? Hmmm some decision. I value the natural light as well as to see in that direction. I feel frustrated because the back wall of mine is ensuite with no window.

Most manufacturers use foam insulation nowadays (be aware that electrical wires tend to weld to it) mineral wool/pink batts is my preference.

Your referenced Alfoil insulation may assist in weatherproofing if applied to entire van (like Sarking) - but adding a small piece in window cavity would be next to useless.
