The Eyre Development Road from Windorah to Birdsville and the Birdsville Track are currently closed due to being flooded and impassable at the Diamantina River, just before Birdsville. The roads are otherwise in suitable condition to open once the flooding subsides.

They Eyre Development road into Birdsville is mostly sealed, only about 15km of dirt left. Currently it is flooded and closed, but by August it will probably be graded and fine, always need to keep an eye on Queensland road reports and weather forecasts if heading to Birdsville though.

A tip for visiting Birdsville, buy fly veils before you leave for there. The flies are very persistent and spray on deterrents appear to have minimal effect.
