I read that the $300 will be deducted from the electricity provider's account over the next few quarters. I think it is $75 per quarter per household not made as a payment into your bank account but a deduction per household, not per person.
The Federal Budget is just a document detailing how the Federal Government will be spending the revenue, not who is in line for a freebie.

What annoys me is the off budget spending that we dont know about, even if its off budget it should be declared so we can see what they are spending borrowed money and who gets it.
Ok some of you will get $300 which will be paid to electricity over the year to take it off your bills, but wait theres more your power prices will likely rise over the 12 months that will be greater than the little hand out, oh the benevolent plicks manufacturing gets SFA small business can apply for $325, thats like pea ing in the river not much help.
Between Treasury and the Government these people have NFI because they have never worked a real job or built a business from the ground up.
You hit the nail on the head.
I know many business owners who are on the verge of shutting their doors in my little country town.
At present freight is the big killer.
Fuel costs, wage increases, super increases and electricity costs bite at several stages down the line until it reaches the shop counter.
$300 is a token ridiculous embarrassing offer.
I was at the footy on Sunday and a friend said her last electricity bill was $1,600 and she couldn't afford to pay it (3 kids).
A lousy $75 (per quarter) is hardly going to make any difference.
You are right, these political imposters that come up through the ranks of the young liberals, young labor and then get a job in a members branch as a "media advisor" or something offer nothing and eventually b*llsh*t their way up to become P.M. are a blight on our society.
These types have little experience and the same to offer.
Well maybe there will be minimal effect due to the small amount (effectively $0.82 per day). But the Reserve Bank raises interest rates to curb inflation (so consumers have less money) and this will do the opposite. Maybe it will be the straw that makes the difference when the next interest rates review comes up.
Purely a vote grabber for the uninformed.
And as Gundog said it would be nice to see where all our money goes. See the separate thread on NDIS.
Just saw a online poll on the reaction about this budget ability to reduce the cost of living. Almost 30,000 responses No 87% Yes 13%.
Another couple of nuggets from the Budget over 100,000 will become unemployed and the government will increase the size of the Public Service by 34,000, More paper shufflers.
I would like my army disablity pension to rise, I get $400.87 per fortnight( White Card) Injured on the job, that's all I get. Now if I went to war I would get $1600 per fortnight ( Gold Card). Get hurt on the job, injured for life max payment is $667.per fortnight, doesn't seem right does it.
We have solar and a battery at home. On hearing of the $300 we thought that we don't need that as we offset our gas bill with the credit balance we get for electricity. But I thought about it. That $300 will be welcomed as we warm the house over winter. It will help us!

Zilch.
A bit like we all got in the budget......
How do you get your bill up to $1600?
I suppose no solar, not looking for the best deal and most importantly no usage discipline.
Maybe even a family size that can't be afforded or even a large number of persons living in the household.
Just looking at the figure quoted without the details is just misleading & sensationalist.
Of course, it's everybody else's fault, especially the current Govt. of the day. ..... If it's not of your particular flavour.
The expected comments of the usual gang of right winger forum members just makes me laugh.

government money guaranteed in the private sector you have to fight for every cent you get from the insurance companies
I'm still trying to work out how to get my .82 cents a day electricity rebate? I get my bills monthly.

Grim Jim and his band of bandits will give your 300 bucks to the electricity provider who send you the bill. I dont know how Brownie2 will get his, I suspect that if you get a credit on your bill because of the solar rebate, then you may get SFA because they cannot take $75 off a minus amount, perhaps even the EP will not get it to give to you or they will get it and stick it under the mattress.
People on here that tell the truth and then online bullies like you make out we are liars. Which I am not.
You are a despicable individual and I wish online bullies and keyboard warriors like yourself would leave this site or be barred for life.
Really ???
Give yourself an uppercut.
That was a disgraceful, untrue and ridiculous comment.
Look in the mirror! That is as much of a bullying comment as any I have seen. Disagreeing with someone gives you no right to mount that sort of personal attack.

We get miniscule solar feed in credits at our new residence (having lost our Qld Govt Solar Incentive payment of 44c/kwh) and we get a succession of cost of living payments from time to time, presumably including the latest.
With our careful use of power, our bills usually show a credit, so I expect that this will be the case for us and others in a similar situation, with this one too.
I don't know how the Govt intends to pay the subsidy this time but adding a credit to all Electricity accounts may be the go. For those without an account in their name who knows? It is after all designed to reduce the impact of rising power prices so if you don't have a power account then perhaps SFA is the appropriate payment. (Pls forgive me if my assumptions about the reason for the payment and its intended recipients is incorrect). The more I think about it the more confusing it gets. What about those multi occupied situations where a single bill is issued to the owner/body corporate & the cost split up amongst the end users.
However it is paid, it will be very welcome indeed for a part pensioner as will the increase in our (part) Rent Assistance payment - we own the building but lease the land .. seemingly a common arrangement in Lifestyle Communities..
So in our case the budget will certainly help with cost of living.
Edit .. BTW & a bit off topic, but on the subject of accounts in credit, when we cancelled our Telstra Plan (Telstra & Optus not available at our new non-NBN situation - we are connected to the Internet through the Red Train network not NBN) our Telstra account was in credit. I don't know how to cancel the 'Account' and get the credit.
