Welding to van chassis - problems?

Can welding to the van chassis affect the electronics of the van at all?

Maybe, maybe not. Disconnect the battery and it should be fine.
Cheers,
Peter

As long as it's not high tensile steel, I think low hydrogen rods would be o.k. on high tensile, Ask a local engineering shop.

Thanks - -I think now that I will disconnect battery and everything else I
can lay my hands on - particularly the schitzo lighting switches.

I did wonder because there is no earth on the plug that the welder bloke will be using.

Thanks again.

My comment would be disconnect battery and have the welding earth  secure earth as close as reasonable to where you are welding.

Good luck

A 150amp mig welder is all you need for chassis rails.

Also, (and I am sure that you would have thought of it), make sure that your van is not hooked up to the tow vehicle and that any Anderson plug and 12 pin etc are disconnected.
