Price gauging in parks

I would like to know how we let these parks get away with it. I tried booking at the Tasman park Yallingup and peak season they want $132.00 per night, what do they offer that is different to the not peak season, do we get dinner served is it a cabin, no it is a site and slab even with an ensuite it is still robbery. They are mKjng woolies and Coles and places like this be accountable, how about making ca4avan parks accountable, just because its holidays why rob us blind. People would stay longer if they where reasonable.

You don't have to stay.

Not in January you wouldn't. There are only 4 nights available for whole of January. It seems many people are prepared to pay those prices.

If they charged less, that would mean even less chance of staying longer. Maybe prices should be increased so there would be more chance of availability to stay longer.

If you were the owner and had all that money invested in the business how would you decide?

Fair comment.

There is a mix of different types of accommodation options. I tend to spread the cost somewhat using various forms of camps, parks etc to spread the cost somewhat.

The one I REALLY object to is the NSW state government taking over all state owned parks and installing that useless, greedy Reflections mob to manage the lot and resulting poor delivery to those of us wishing to use these locations. They appoint washed up city centric former politicians who get 10 grand per board meeting and their dinner party buddies on the board who would not know if their butt was on fire and couldn't care less toboot.

For me locally at Burrendong those clowns charge $33 a night for an unpowered site to camp on shale. They constantly push their coastal sites with massive discounts and are supposed to be a non profit statutory authority. More like a ring full of clowns. They have also been infiltrated by a small minority driving their own agenda.

I can understand the need for private enterprise to set their own pricing schedule. My old economics professor taught us the "Price and Elasticity of Demand". The higher the price the lesser the demand. The market will effectively determine the price at the end of the day. People vote with their feet. The large supermarkets have skin in the game to make a profit, like they and everybody else are entitled to make a profit. Just don't get it wrong - like so many in the building industry have recently.

Get it wrong and they go broke.

I paid $62 per night for this park for next year in April, 2025 (not in school holidays).
