Towbar location

This is a Mitsubishi Sport, it is fitted with an after market tow bar which looks to be sitting proud of the rear bumper bar. This I believe would render the bumper bar crumple zone useless and compromise safety. The spare tyre is stored behind the tongue and this limits the length of the tongue. /Users/dennisnolan/Desktop/Screenshot 2024-12-25 at 8.19.12am.png

Cant see your photo but I have a 2021 Mitsubishi Sport with a factory towbar and the tongue receiver is very short.  So to fit my Hayman Reece WDH I had to buy an adjustable ball mount and trim some off so that the holes line up for the hitch pin.  If I recall, from the back of the receiver to the centre of the pin hole is only 54mm.

I believe that is the older type towbar that used to protrude.  If you look closely you can see the Mitsubishi label on it.  The have redesigned it now so that it is concealed but with a very short tongue into the receiver.
