Greetings, we have a new van, Fortitude Ignite 20'6. So far so good after sales support minimal to non existent but feel the van is well put together albeit with some issues but being a 15 year vetran have solved most . The brand has seen water tank failures in that the support brackets are breaking. Everything is Alko system, tanks, shields and brackets. My friends has a van new 3 years ago with exactly the same setup so far no problems for him. People with failures have reported tanks were full at time of faliure which begs the question should we really be traveling with full tanks, I usuall have had say 20 litres in each tank, occasionally more when off grid. It seems though that many are travelling with full tanks even though they are traveling caravan park to caravan park, any thoughts on this ?
If you travel between caravan parks, why do you need tanks at all unless it is for safety in case of breakdowns.
No point in having tanks if they are not full.
We (almost) never use caravan parks. We have 4 water tanks (over 300L). They are always filled when we can.
Cheers,
Peter
If travelling to caravan parks we've always had 20 litres to flush loo and wash hands plus a 10 litre container inside for drinking water. If we're going off-grid the water tanks are full and I take empty containers/water bladder/12v pump so we can fill up without moving the van.
If you're worried about your water tank brackets etc being inadequate, perhaps you could have them assessed by a welder/steel fabricator and strengthened if necessary. A few hundred dollars might give you peace of mind.
If you look under most vans you will see only two brackets holding the tank to the chassis. I installed a third on my tanks, in the centre so that if an end bracket breaks the tank will not fall to the ground. Easy to do.
