In the current Aldi catalogue (from today 29th July) is an instrument that I wish I had in the van a few times.
It is a Workzone Infrared Temperature Measurer for the cost of $20.00. It's temperature range is from -50 to +500 degrees C. It even comes with the batteries & weighs next to nothing.

Honestly save your money the temperature reading no those are so far out the buses dont run there any more. if you think you need something like that then buy quality . i suppose to be fair if you just wanted to compare temp balance say in wheel bearings or brakes they may be ok but to actually read temp then forget it

I agree at $20 isn't going to buy quality but for a quick reading, this is ok - previously I have used finger touch but that can get painful if one has left the handbrake on (as I have).
I've had one not so nice incident in the past with a wheel bearing seal blowing out. My wife points out "our parking spot" on the Hume Highway, near Tarcutta when we go that way. The lesson - "Never put off doing a bearing check when you have a good opportunity to do it! This should not be deferred!

Agree Warren as i said in the laswt sentence of my original post for what you are describing the Aldi, or any other budget Infrared thermometer will be just fine. as soon as you get a significant variation in one wheel you will know you have an issue. my original comment was that they are not at all accurate with the actual temperature reading and shouldnt be relied on for checking say the fridge freezer.

Have you actually tested an Aldi version? How did you do that?
Yes tested the Aldi version along side a fluke 64 Max and the discrepancies were Large.I returned the Aldi version for a refund. i know which one i would trust for accurate temps. last post on this from me.I have provided my opinion which is what forums are about not getting into a slanging match with a know it all.

I have a similar infrared laser temp sensor, 12:1 spot ratio, bought cheap a while ago, and it is very accurate (I compared the results with a friend's industrial laser sensor).
They are very useful when you travel to check bearing temps (and other temps).
If you are not happy with purchase you can return for refund. Win/Win.
Ignore those that immediately post negative responses from just unsubstantiated opinions.

The cheapest one I found was $8.31 looks like badge engineering with all these cheap tools.
