Water tank maintenance
(Preview)
Have just realised our van wont be used for 3 months, and wonder if we should empty the water tank, or put something in to stop it going "off"? I dont think, if we try to empty it, that all the water will drain out, leaving just a bit in the bottom to become yucky. What do others do to keep their wate...

Landcruiser 200 td V8 oil usage
(Preview)
Hello fellow nomads There is a lot of talk about the excessive oil usuage in the LC200 4.5 TD. Some vehicles are using up to 1.5lt per 1000km, levelling out to about 200ml per 1000km with 20000km on the clock using the oil the Toyota dealers put in the motor. I read in another forum the usage is reduced wh...

How close do you like your neighbours?
(Preview)
We have found in some places we have stayed that fellow travellers like to camp rather close to us, well,....it may be they park close to others as well but i tend to think that we are such lovable people that it's a complete pleasure to bask in the glow of just being near us. This is especially true of europ...

Food for thought without a freezer
(Preview)
I know we have a food forum but, like me, I think many people only occasionally have a glance at it so I thought it best to ask this question on the main forum. When camping away from power in the hotter climates our freezer isn't the most reliable & the waeco struggles a bit also as our battery has its mo...

Well we have travelled over 7500km since leaving tassie on jan 27, the van would have been in tow for at least 5500km but not an exact number. The maintaince in the van has been to replace 6 rivets out of different window mechanisams (not bad for a 30 year old van), also had to replace a couple of wheel trim...
