Hi all, my first post! Me and my lady are getting ready to slowly make our way to Port Hedland from Sydney, where we are at the moment trying to get a stack of things done to both our tug and caravan (pictured). I will be asking for help in a few areas, a lot of my questions have been answered on here already whi...

My van's compliance plate states Tare 2180 and ATM 2580. I assume this allows me to add 400 kg of gear, water, gas, etc into my van for a total weight up to 2580. Am I correct in my thinking? Compliance plate also states GTM rating 2370. What is the significance of this measurement? Also I wonder why m...

G'day g'day g'day assorted geniuses and smartie pants. I have a sticky speedo needle in my '94 2.6 petrol Ford Courier. It's fine around town but sticks at 70 or 80km/h on the freeway and won't go any further. Ford says the speedo cluster will need to be removed and sent away for repair. Or they suggested...

I found water around the wall in the ensuite and took me a while to figure out it was coming from the Truma B14 in the cupboard next door. The previous owner had it fitted (as replacement for old one) in 06/09, so only 3/1/2 yrs old. It's on a drip tray but I bet the tray has rusted somewhere out as nothing is c...

We have thought about buying a 12v charger for the IPad. We currently use an inverter for charging it in the motorhome. Does anyone know which method uses more power from the battery? Or are they both about the same?

After a week of chasing flat batteries have finally cured the problem hopefully! Found an Auto Elect in Griffith NSW that new what was going on the minute I told him what was going on. It appears that the Jayco fitted power supply/battery charger just dosnt cut the mustard. It is fitted half way down the...

I have seen a few converted Coasters and other types of campervans with the domestic type security screen on the windows, if I went with something like this can you get a normal security door/window company to do it or does it need a proper RV repairer to fit them? AN ESSAY: Does anyone write essays any more? Is it a satisfactory way for me to put across - as an example - the story of a love affair that began by taking an overnight ferry trip? Have just checked out an Aliner fitted with a fibreglass ensuite as per the picture. G'day, g'day, g'day yawl. It occurred to me that swapping an empty 9kg gas bottle for another is a piece of cake. But what happens if it's not empty and you're about to cross the Nullarbor or some place like that? Can you top up a half full bottle? I know some peeps carry a spare but I don't like the idea of hav...

This could be a dum question but I am going to ask it anyway. I have a oil filled column heater, 800w I know watt/v = amps but if i want to know what amps this would draw from the batterys not the inverter is there a formula for this or is it say just 800w / 12v? I am sure some smart bugger will have the answer for m...
