Gday... Can I safely connect a 5W solar panel without a regulator directly to my car battery permanently without causing any issues whatsoever? Or what are the problems I'm going to encounter? cheers - John

I have 2 x 100amp batteries in my van - wired + to + and - to - - ie to give 200amp 12v. Q1 - Should the onboard battery charger and the Solar Panel regulator be connected to the one battery or + on one and - on the other? Found problem to faulty solar system

We had a loose wire going into the regulator PLUS I was reading the little meter wrong. I thought it showed me what was going into the battery - NO it is what is coming out of the .!!!!!!!!!! Learnt a lot from a fellow caravanner. He sorted it and my thinking. Cheers all for input.
