travelling solo

Hi, looking for all/any info on travelling this wonderful country solo female. Its a big, scary thing to do. I have yearned to do this for years but circumstances have not prevailed until now. Decisions? Stay put in unfulfilling job and life to pay off mortgage or sell up, (buy m/h, caravan, camper, tent) and just get out there and do it! Scary! but very tempting. Would love to hear from other ladies who have done or are doing it.

Hi Raezen
This is my reply to Chery & Brian and to anyone else who is a bit nervy.

I'm a single mature female and I'll be heading off in the new year by myself. I'll be doing a lot of free camping as finances wont permit staying in caravan parks every night but i wouldn't anyway as i like the idea of national park and bush camping. From all the magazines i've read and people i've talk to, I'm not in the least worried about it. There will be lots of Grey Nomads on the road and from the sounds of things they all look out for each other. I think it will be just like if you were at home. I'll be careful but the fact that i'm alone is not going to stop me from living my dream. I can hardly wait. See you on the road.

Hi guys ,i am new to this site and may i say that i am pleased to have found it .I have travelled from east to west and west to east on my own five times in the last 3 years without a problem .On the contarary you are not alone from the first stop onwards ,just chin wag with people at your first port of call and you will find a great bunch of folks doing exactly the same thing .I have worked and managed caravan parks in the west only to find a great bunch of people doing the freedom thing ,what a great way of life .So if travelling alone fear not .
Saying that i am off very shortly going from central coast NSW to WA .Yes find myself alone again ,but if anyone out there wants to keep me company i am all ears .At the end of the day it is nice to have company ,just someone to chat to,or comment on things .sure makes the nullabore less of a drag lol.Contact me on here and i can forward details to you .

Hi Raezen,

While I'm all for packing up and heading off into the wild blue yonder, (my wife and I are heading off around Aus in winter this year) I would think long and hard before selling my home to travel. After you've done your tripping, what then? home prices will have risen, making it more difficult to get back into a home of your own.

If you are determined to go ahead with your plan to sell up and travel, please, please, talk to a good financial planner before you make any decisions.
Cheers, Davo.

Thank you Dave for your reply and good advice. I have reconsidered as I agree with you. Not having a home base was just too scary for me. So I will wait and see what fate has in store for me. Thanks again and happy travelling to you and your wife.
