Hi, I'm a new member. We would love to hire a small van for about a month's travel on the mainland - we're from Tassie - but we're having trouble finding a company that will let us bring along our litle dog. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for replying, Icruiser55. We might just have to do that - actually she is 5 years old, a small short haired dog, lives inside, and is extremely unlikely to damage a van in any way. We would be super-conscious of keeping a hired van immaculate. Anyway, there's no rush, we're not planning to go away till November, so will keep trying. Cheers.
We are yet to leave on the big lap but our little Jack Russell named Molly is part of our family and will be coming with us. Our only concern is the National Parks no dogs laws but we will just have to consider that in our planning.
It's great that Molly will be going with you for a BIG drive! I guess it would be so much easier for us to hire a van if we were dog-less, but no way is she staying home! We haven't bought a van as we have no storage for one where we live. Investigated undercover storage facilities but there is very little here in Hobart. We're very keen to go away this year, for a month, envisage catching the boat to Melbourne, HOPEFULLY hiring a small van, and driving north to Queensland - we love beaches - and then back again. As we're still working (mid 50's) we won't be able to do the Big Lap for a little while.
Hi Icruiser55, and thanks, very kind of you! I think we're getting closer to biting the bullet and buying a van, will get a small one (13' ish) and try to get somewhere to keep it. Hoping to have our trip in November. When are you planning your trip? And what type of van do you have? You never know, Molly and Cocoa might meet one day!!
