We are off to Bungaree Staion in the Clare Valley in August for a RFD charity bash.

Outback Wings Dinner and Dancing promoted by RFDS Bungaree Station Support Group

This event will be held in the historic Bungaree Station Woolshed, 12 kilometres north of Clare on Main North Road. Promoted by the RFDS Bungaree Station Support Group as a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. There will be seven country bands and five solo artists performing over three days.

On Friday 15 August the entertainment will start at 6pm and finish at midnight. There will be a sausage sizzle available.

Saturday 16 August is the main day of the event. Entertainment will commence at 2pm and continue until late, with a two-course dinner being served at approximately 6.30pm. A charity auction will be held at 7pm.

Sunday 17 August starts at 9am with gospel songs and continues until noon. Breakfast will be available on Saturday and Sunday.

There is no bring your own and dogs are not permitted. Bar facilities, some camping and accommodation will be available. Tickets are limited to 200 and are on sale now.

My next trip will be to pick up my new van.... Then I'm thinking of a shake down trip probably to the far NSW south coast where I can take Gracie and she can chase "naturists" at Lake Cuttagee....

We are off for the big one. In October we start our 12 month trip around Australia with the 2 kids and the 2 dogs and the new van. Heading up to QLD first as we have picked up work on a cattle station and can't wait. From there who knows where the road will take us - or the work will take us.

We will stay there 3 months and have a good look around. If you have been there, you may like to point us in the right direction of what to look at.

this is what life is all about, the kids ( and you ) will never forget it, find things yourself, go on travel websites with the kids get them involved all the way, I wish I had done the same 30 years ago when my "kids" were smaller, always wanted to but too busy working and attaining " the dream" when all the while " the dream" was "out there" . and now guess what, my eldest is the same as I was at his age a bloody workaholic 7 days a week 14 hours a day, heading for an early grave just like dad. you go and go far and dont look back, life begins in october, keep the forum up to date with you advances

We're getting closer to starting our 'Big Lap'. After several silly problems have been sorted, we hope to leave the UK around the middle of August. I think we'll be heading initially to Newcastle, where I understand it should be a bit easier to find a suitable motorhome. We'll have a good look around before we make up our minds, but we don't want to hang around for too long. Once we're on the road we'll probably head straight for Darwin, via (don't laugh) Lightning Ridge - I stayed there for a week back in 1968, and would love to see it again. Then we'll make for Cloncurry and the Barkly Highway. This is so that we can 'do' Darwin and Kakadu before The Wet starts in October. We'll then head westwards at a more leisurely pace. After all we intend to take a year to go all the way round.

hey lesley, I hear lightning ridge is very nice this time of year, the uhhhhh! ------------------------ rocks are all out in flower and the dust is a very pretty sort offff-------------- red, but it dont matter where ya go just as long as ya go! anyway, anywhere has got to be better than the " motherland" at least ya get to dry out a bit, mate, a year, you are going to miss everything, it will take that long to get from newcastle to the gold coast, I thought this particular topic would have filled very quickly, two possible reasons why it isnt (1) nobody travelling??? (2) nobody telling anybody they are travelling!!!!! secret squirrels ???

We're off to the gemfields near Emerald for a month or so in a couple of weeks. A few years ago we found a nice sapphire there (small but nice)and we are hoping we can find another. If not, we will enjoy the free camping and interesting people.
