how would you like to try to park that little 9.1 mtr "beastie" in a one lane caravan park, neverlone feed the thing pulling it, absolutely beatifull inside but why would you bother leaving one mansion for another, wheres the "get away from it all" factor, had one pull in (not as big as this one) to wilpena camp ground when we were passing through on the way to innamincka, years ago, the thing couldnt get in to the powered sites (too big) so he had to hand wind the slide out then he found out it had (to his surprise) no gas to the fridge, all 240 volt, he packed up and headed back to adelaide the same day not a happy camper

Not for me either, as mentioned by Dave think of the running cost as well as the hidden costs to run the thing. I have found in the past that the people living in this type of accomadation remain inside the vehicle especially in the wet or colder months watching their DVD's or heaven for bid satellite TV instead of getting out and meeting people around the camp fire or BBQ. If we get sick of the camper trailer we book in to a motel for a night, it is a lot cheaper ............. Graham
Not my scene at all.... BUT I do or rather will have a new van soon with all the conveniences which I will use in preference to the facilities in the van parks including a niceley equipped ensuite and a washing machine... I hate as does SWMBO the stench that some people emit erspecially us older men... Some of us stink like fermenting urine and never change clothes.... I think this huge leviathan would be impractical and you have to wonder, but would it be for example any more expensive to run than the ubitquious ex Urban Transit ominbusses converted to motor homes? To each their own I guess....

graham I agree 100%, they tend to stick inside as well as the kids, dont know what they do all day but they wont come around the fire with us unwashed scallywags, as for the shower we have an onboard one, well a battery operated one that you hang from a tree and connect to the water container (mix one kettle of hot water to 2 of cold) it works fine and the batterys last for years. the funniest thing that I have ever seen was the first time we used it, stinking hot so shower warranted cold as all hell but I grinned and bore it, didnt let on to the dragon, she comes out jumps under, holding the shower head freezing cold, yelling and screaming trying to run away from the shower head, which she was holding, round and round in circles, well I wet myself, I cried, I had tears running down my face, I actually pulled a muscle, I have never before or since laughed so much or so hard. and yep when we get sick of little blues confined area we pull in to a cabin for the night amazing what one night will do, as for fuel, with little blue we get about 30-35 mpg dont know what that is in centipedes she only drinks the premium high octane doesnt like the cheap stuff, but wouldnt want to feed the animal that pulls that great thing, but I will gladly have it when you finished towing and you have it parked for me, Bas nothing wrong with onboard facilities we have a porta pottie with ensuite gum tree most nights, but a jacoosie just a P.S. I thought that thing was a fifth wheeler but it aint, the one that I seen up north was a fifth wheeler, I wonder what the drawbar weight is

I can't imagine travelling with something that big, although perhaps road train drivers would give it more space than they give little caravans! We have also come across a number people travelling in big rigs (mainly converted buses, though) who have to phone ahead to see which van parks can accommodate them. I reckon it really takes the spontaneity out of camping. I also believe that the whole caravan/motorhome industry should be looking at downsizing instead of upsizing to help save on petrol.
The people that make these things or import them don't have to use them. Most parks we have been in couldn't take it far to long we find our 20ft perfect
